Wellness refers to seven dimensions of life that impact the quality of one's health and well-being. Those seven dimensions are physical, social, emotional, occupational, intellectual, environmental and spiritual wellness. When each of these dimensions are balanced an individual is able to experience a high level and quality of life that is satisfying and complete. Yet many people are lacking in one or more of the dimensions but are not aware of it which means they are constantly seeking ways to fill or address voids in life. So how do you categorize your level of wellness in each dimension? What do you need help in or where are you at your highest? Be honest and use that revelation to move forward and make the necessary changes. Perhaps your nutritional habits are not allowing you to have the energy and disease fighting capacities you need. Maybe you need to add physical activity to the daily mix. What kind of intellectual activities do you engage in daily? Reading, puzzles, writing or do you need to reconsider the television and screen time that you spend daily? What about your friends? Are they the kind that empower you or enable you? Do you need to make changes to your work or employment status so that you can spend more time with family and loved ones? How is your spiritual life? Is it one where you feel guided by principles and values that emphasize integrity and peace? What is your regard for the environment? Are you engaging in activities to promote health in the environment for the health of humanity and wildlife? These are some of the questions that should be considered when evaluating the level of wellness in your life. It may take some time but it is well worth the time spent in order to improve and live the life you desire.
Ruthy
Children are our future and we must do everything we can to insure that they are healthy, happy, educated and safe. What does that mean? Giving our children the attention they need from us everyday: a hug, a kiss, a hot meal, a play date with a parent, a story, a movie, in other words, our time. What have you done today to let a child in your life know that they are special? What will you do tomorrow?
Our president has signed into law the SCHIP bill which extends health care for children up to the age of 18. With that we are able to make sure that our children are immunized and have the physical exams they need. But in addition to that we must make sure that we provide them with nutritious meals and opportunities to exercise. What are you doing today for your child?
